Child support is an unequivocal right of children in the United States. From birth until the legal adult age of eighteen, or in some cases 21, children are entitled to the support of both parents. Child support agreements are often negotiated after a divorce, with the non custodial parent paying a set amount in monthly child support payments. These child support agreements may be mandated by family court, through mediation with a child support lawyer, or through private agreements.
