Alabama Man Charged For Interference With Child Custody

Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Carmen S. Adams today announced the arrest of Philip Jerome Jackson, age 26, of Tarrant, Alabama on a federal charge of Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution - Kidnapping, Interference with Child Custody. Jackson was arrested without incident by members of the FBI Birmingham Violent Crimes Joint Task Force at 6:30 A.M. at a residence on Hill Drive, Tarrant, Alabama. Jackson's 18 month old daughter was recovered unharmed at the time of the arrest.

The Federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant was based on a January 13, 2006, warrant from a Pennsylvania magistrate which charged Jackson with kidnapping and other related offenses involving the taking of the child from the custody of her mother. The child had been missing since December 20, 2005. This missing child was featured on CBS's Without a Trace on March 9, 2006, and the CBS Early Show from New York, New York, on March 10, 2006.

The child has been placed in the care of the Alabama Department of Human Resources. The mother of the child is currently en-route to Birmingham to be reunited with her daughter. Read more at fbi.gov
