Oregon Department of Justice, Aug 13, 2008

Presentations will aid employers' compliance with laws and regulations defining their responsibilities in Child Support Program. Attorney General Hardy Myers and Oregon Child Support Program (CSP) Director William Castor today announced a program of statewide seminars for employers to review child support laws and regulations that apply to employers.

"Employers are key CSP partners in ensuring that children and families receive the support they are legally entitled to have," Castor said. "These seminars will help employers correctly understand and comply with their legal responsibilities in the CSP."

Organized as part of Child Support Awareness Month, the August seminars will be conducted without charge for all employers, and also for labor organizations, doing business in Oregon. Each session will provide a review of reporting new hire employees, income withholding, National Medical Support Notices, child support-related electronic fund transfer payments, and other state and federal laws and regulations that affect employers followed by a question and answer period. Participants also will receive detailed notebooks to take with them.
